Turkey visa for Algerians in 2026: who needs one, e-Visa and how to apply

Published on 5 November 2026 · Nreservi team

Istanbul is one of Algerians' favourite destinations, but the visa question comes back with every trip. Since June 2026 the rules have changed for some travellers. Here is what applies to Algerians holding an ordinary passport, by age.

What changed in June 2026

Turkish presidential decree No. 11456, published in the Official Gazette on 20 June 2026, widened the visa exemption. Algerians under 15 and over 50 can now enter Turkey without a visa for tourism, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The decree lowered the exemption age from 65 to 50.

In practice, a retired couple, grandparents travelling with their grandchildren or a family with young children no longer need a visa for the members concerned: a valid passport is enough.

Aged 15 to 50: the e-Visa, under conditions

Travellers aged 15 to 18 and 35 to 50 can get an e-Visa online on one condition: holding a valid visa or residence permit from the Schengen area, the United States, the United Kingdom or Ireland.

  • The e-Visa allows a one-month stay with a single entry.
  • Apply only on the official website www.evisa.gov.tr and pay by card. Beware of sites that copy the official portal and add fees.
  • Carry the e-Visa and the visa or residence permit that made you eligible: they can be checked on arrival.

Everyone else: a consulate visa

Travellers aged 18 to 35, and those aged 15 to 18 or 35 to 50 without a Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit, must apply for a standard visa at the Turkish Embassy in Algiers or a Turkish consulate in Algeria. The list of documents, fees and processing times are set by the Turkish mission: check with it directly before buying your tickets, and apply several weeks ahead in holiday periods.
