Location: Chenoua, between the beach and the ruins of Tipasa
The hotel is at the entrance to Chenoua, west of the town of Tipaza. The beach is 250 m away, with Mount Chenoua rising just behind the coast.
The archaeological park of Tipasa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Tipaza museum are about five minutes by car. The Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania, known as the Tomb of the Christian Woman, is about a quarter of an hour away. Algiers is east along the coast road: allow more time in summer and at weekends.
Pool, spa and facilities
The outdoor pool opens in season, usually from late June to late September (dates to be confirmed with the hotel each year). The spa offers a hammam and face and body treatments, and there is a gym.
On site: a restaurant, breakfast every morning, free Wi-Fi and free parking. Rooms are air-conditioned with TV; an extra bed can be requested for a fee.
When to go and who is it for?
In summer, Ben Aouda suits families who want the beach on foot and a pool for the children. Off season, it is a quiet base to visit the Roman ruins, stroll around Tipaza harbour or the foot of Mount Chenoua, or enjoy the hammam on a weekend from Algiers.
