Sharm el-Sheikh alone or with Cairo?

Many Algerian travellers add two or three days in Cairo: the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum near the pyramids, the Khan el-Khalili souk and an evening cruise on the Nile. Cairo and Sharm el-Sheikh are linked by daily domestic flights.

Prefer another Red Sea resort? Hurghada, on the African coast, also has large all-inclusive hotels and trips to the Giftun Islands; Marsa Alam, further south, is quieter. Hotels in all three resorts can be compared in the search above.

Choosing your hotel

Naama Bay is the liveliest area, with its promenade, restaurants and shops: ideal if you like going out in the evening. Nabq Bay, to the north, has large family resorts with pools, aquaparks and kids' clubs. Sharks Bay and Ras Um Sid have the best access to the reefs.

Most hotels in Sharm el-Sheikh are sold all inclusive (meals, soft drinks and often entertainment): usually the best choice for a family. Check the board basis and cancellation terms of each offer before you book.
